OUR MISSION
Founded in 2015 in Montreal by Ford Mckeown Larose and Anaïs Gachet, Forward Movements is a creation and production company specializing in street dance. It supports and produces the artistic creations of dancer and choreographer Ford Mckeown Larose and organizes events, battles and rallies around street dance.
Forward Movements wishes to decompartmentalize its activities and consider them from the angle of “circular” thinking where each project feeds on others, in a beneficial interdependence, characteristic of street dance. The company has given itself several convergent missions including:
– Produce the choreographic creations and support the artistic vision of Ford Mckeown Larose
– Organize battles and gatherings around street dance
– Contribute to the preservation and sustainability of street dance, in particular through cultural mediation activities, workshops and conferences.
– Participate in the development of the cultural heritage for the Saint-Michel district

OUR VISION
The Forward Movements company immerses audiences in the artistic world of choreographer Ford Mckeown Larose, drawing inspiration from a variety of disciplines such as drawing, film and poetry. It creates an atypical, sometimes ephemeral aesthetic, drawing on the philosophies and values of Boogaloo and Hip Hop, inherited from Afro-descendant cultures (see below). Based in the Saint-Michel district of Montreal, the company makes its art resonate on the local and international scene.
